Backyard Fun!

Well last night we had our weekly irrigation of our backyard. Now I must clarify that we are renting this beautiful house with an ENORMOUS backyard at the moment. I really think it is the biggest kept secret in all of Provo! This backyard with its plentiful fruit trees and grass that can almost stretch beyond one's own imagination has become a place for my children to run, jump, climb trees (mostly Sabrina) and basically frolic to their hearts content. Monday always brings an extra facet to the fun when we irrigate, we basically flood the entire backyard. So it is on with swim suits and sunscreen (if I am fast enough) and out to run, slide, jump and play with all the vigor that only children can possibly have! Sabrina, Espen and Mia were the only ones left by the time I got the camera all charged up and working. Spencer had since gone in the house and dried off.

Amongst the trees, grass, bushes and grapevines there lies a rather large and intimidating plot for a garden that could possibly feed the 5000. So we have tried our hand at gardening this year. The children have loved it. Spencer frequently checks on the plants and returns with detailed reports on their progress! So here are some photos of some of our success in the garden. There is also a photo of my city slicker husband who has turned to "farming" with "such grace" that he must be admired! He is my very own Gilbert Blythe--scholastic and handsome, yet can farm with the rest of them :)

Kjaere Mor og Far, og alle in Norge: Dette er fra hagen vaar! Spencer elske aa gaa og se paa gronnsaker! Hilsen fra oss! Savne Dokker saa mye, glad i dokker!

First Day, First Blog Entry!

Exciting, Thrilling, trying to Blog for the first time ever! I am excited to have a place to enter the thoughts that randomly run through my mind. Some, however, seem to run straight through as if they're in the 100 yrd dash, without stopping to take time to grow! I guess that is what having 4 and 1/2 children can do to a once never forgetting, always thinking 10 steps ahead mind!

Dear Reader, you will hopefully find a place to relax for 15 seconds, let's be honest that is how long every mother has to herself most days, read a humorous quote of the day, provided for me by my every growing, always eating, forever calling "Mom, Where are you?" beautiful children!

Some days you may find a few entries that will have sporadic Norwegian words throughout. My dear in-laws are living in Norway, so this blog will also serve as way for them to see their much missed barnebarn!

So hopefully I'll be able to add a photo with each entry to keep things fun and fresh. So here is the story of the day:

Last night before the children were wrestled off to bed, Kenneth my dear husband, discovered 2 male beetles in the course of a battle! We know they were male because Spencer, my dear 10 yr old & animal planet guru, said only males fight, and they were fighting for 1 of 3 things. Territory, Mates, and Protecting their Young! And since it was Summer, it must be for territory because they only fight for mates in the Spring!

So there is my story for the day. May tomorrow bring more smiles and laughs as we keep enjoying our summer holidays!

Here is a photo I found of my all-knowing when it comes to any animal query Spencer!
