The Color Purple

Sometimes ideas come into my mind and possess me until I have finished and put them to rest. Such was the case of making jam. I had found a place where I could go pick raspberries and blackberries here in Utah County. So off Sabrina and I went last Saturday to pick and pick. We had ordered some pre-picked flats also, as the thought of 95+ degree weather and being 7 months along didn't seem to mesh well with picking all day long.

So we can home with our spoils and I enter the kitchen with great gusto. I cleaned and scrub all the surfaces, and shredding 4 big zucchinis, one that was the size of a small baby elephant to put in the fridge for later use. So away went the jam process. Needless to say our kitchen turned the color purple by about 5 or 6pm. However, by 9:30 pm it was all cleaned up and looking fabulous. Praise the man who discovered bleach! It was well worth the effort, as the children have already consumed one jar of jam, I mixed the blackberry and raspberries together. Yummo!

So now I just have those 2 big bowls of tomatoes staring longing at me and whispering "Don't forget about us!" and less we forget the 2 huge bowls of shredded zucchini patiently waiting for their turn to be of service. I sometimes wonder if I have ended up like my mother, where I spend the entire day in the kitchen and watch as my days efforts disappear in a blink of an eye (usually around 3pm when they all come home from school). Then to be asked a minute later "What's for dinner?" and that today folks (like most days) is a mystery yet to be solved, hopefully by 5pm it will be a closed case, as now my jam ideas have been.

1st Day of School

With shinning new backpack in place and their new pencils sharpened and ready, the children set off for their first day of school last Wednesday. Spencer is now in 5th grade (Grade 5 for all you Canadians), Sabrina in the 3rd and Espen in the 2nd grade. Where has the time gone?

The Craze Known as $2 Tuesday!

Well, we tried again.......and again.......but $2 Tuesday at Thanksgiving Point is just too crazy for words. We thought today that we could try to go "EARLY" and maybe the line won't be gargantuan. THINK AGAIN FOLKS! It was worst then the last time we tried. So we consoled ourselves with a quick trip to Cabela's (and we thought of Uncle Troy and Oakley the whole time). The kids outside the entrance of one of the funnest stores in Utah.

This moose is so lifelike that you are just waiting for it to spout off some pearls of wisdom while you watch him.
The children just love looking at the all of the animals on the mountain in the middle of the store!

Spencer loved the coon hats. Maybe Santa will bring him one! Spencer is our resident expert when it comes to animals, so he was giving a running commentary on all the animals, one day I'll need to get it on video!
This Cougar is so realistic, it gives me heart failure when I look at him. I am waiting for him to pounce any second. I think we've watched too much Animal Planet lately!

This photo is to entice Uncle Troy and Oakley to make a trip down south, and bring the girls too. We'll do Cabela's and a BYU Football game, what could be more fun!!
These last 2 photos are to help persuade the Bonds to come down, and also for the benefit of Einar and Elin. This is what the games look like, show the photos to the boys and get them even more excited, if that is possible! Det skal bli kjempe kult!

Finding the Silver Lining

Sometimes it can be a treasure hunt to find the silver lining in a tough situation, like trying to find the remote control for the TV after a long day of work! Other times it is as easy as finding all your clothes that have reappeared in your magical drawers and closet. (You will remember these magically places from your childhood: you wear clothes, get them dirty and they magically appeared days later in your drawers or closets: clean, pressed and ready for another day). As mothers though, you often wonder where all these magically fairies have gone now, and pray that they someday will return to fill your drawers and closet with freshly laundered clothing!

Last Friday Kenneth and the children had a slight mishap while entering the freeway, lucky and thank heavens no one as hurt, but our precious family mini-van.

Having been in completely the wrong place at the wrong time, the van took for the "team". Thank goodness none of this was Kenneth's fault, the other driver has complete responsibility for the accident.

So our silver lining for this situation is that now we get to drive around a 2008 VW Jetta! Kind of fun for a while.

On a little side note, I just received a message from my dear missionary companion, Janet, good luck in Preston. So wish I could be there.

Watch Out Phelps!

We started swimming lessons this week, they have been great fun for the kids!

We watch Spencer's friend Richmond during the day, so he too is with us for swimming lessons.

You can see Sabrina swimming away in this photo, along with Spencer on the side.

Spencer swimming!

Espen loves the water, and he has to have his goggles.

Mia waving on the side, they kick and kick, it is so fun to watch. Mia just giggles through out the entire lesson. She is so cute to watch! She has grown up too fast!

Splish, Splash.....Water Fun!

We went to the water park called 7 Peaks on Thursday night for my company's summer work party. They rent out the entire park just for us!

Here is Kenneth and Espen on a double tube! Also coming down with Mia.

Mia loved the water slides, AGAIN, AGAIN was all we heard. Spencer's Thumbs up!

Espen coming down the slide.

Mia loved the baby pool, Spencer all smiles after coming down a slide. Spencer did all the crazy slides that day!

Sabrina, my little fish, had a great time as well!
