The Little Mermaids of Norway

"When you have reached your fifteenth year" said the grand-mother, "you will have permission to rise up out of the sea, to sit on the rocks in the moonlight, while the great ships are sailing by, and then you will see both forests and towns."
The Little Mermaid

If Norway had been the birthplace of the Little Mermaid instead of Denmark, then here you have the 2 that would have inspired the story!

I do believe that they are half mermaid, half young girl. Full of laughter, fun, beauty, friendship, caring, strong wills and if you look cloesly you'll find flipper instead of feet. These two little swimmers have been "taking a dip" daily for the last week or so. This summer does not, however, hold the record high for temperatures, so an ocean swim is NOT for the faint at heart.

The dreaded Jelly Fish. The nemesis of any ocean swimmer. Careful planning must be taken before you hop out into the deep blue to avoid such creatures.

Couldn't resist taking this photo. Who is this mystery man named Arnold, who so boldly wrote his name in the concrete that lies on the rocks? Where he is now, what is his story? I just might have to give him a story of his own one day.

Barnacles can be curse to any man, women, or mermaid who swims around the rocks.
This magical place is called Godalen. It lies about a stones throw from where we are living right now. When you are here you wonder if at any moment King Tritan and his people will soon pop their heads above the water and sit for a visit.
Mia didn't come prepared to swim, but as she protected her shorts from getting wet she bravely waded in the sand to feel the cool ocean on her little feet.
Becoming braver by the minute.
A treasure was found at last.
Some little "sea snail" became a captive of little Mia. Wondering what tale he would have told his friends down the deep parts of the sea, that is IF he had been able to live. As it was he came home with us as a "Show and Tell" favorite and was lost not long afterwards!
